The Blessed Life: Poor in Spirit | Pastor Matthew Reneau | October 18, 2026
Oct 18, 2026 • Pastor Matthew Reneau
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus opens with a word His listeners never expected to hear applied to ordinary people: blessed. Launching our new series, The Blessed Life, Pastor Matthew walks through Matthew 5:1-12 and shows that the blessed life Jesus offers is a deep, lasting joy in God that does not depend on our circumstances. It begins with the first beatitude, "Blessed are the poor in spirit": a humble heart that recognizes, no matter how far we have come, that without God we are nothing and that we need Him more today than yesterday. The message closes with the song "I Need You More" and a prayer for a fresh spirit of dependence on the Lord.
