Our Purpose Statement

Our Purpose Statement
Why We Exist as a Church

Our purpose is drawn from two key scriptures:

The Great Commandment:  Jesus said, “…you must love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. And the second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.’”
Mark 12:30-31 (NLT)

The Great Commission: Jesus said, “Go and MAKE DISCIPLES of all nations, BAPTIZING them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy spirit, and TEACHING them to obey everything I have commanded you.”  Matt. 28:19-20

•To “Love God with all your heart” is WORSHIP.
•To “Love your neighbor as yourself” is MINISTRY.
•To “Go...make disciples” is EVANGELISM
•To “Baptize...” is to INCORPORATE INTO FELLOWSHIP.  See Acts 10:47, 48
•To “Teach them...all things” is DISCIPLESHIP.

Cornerstone Community Church’s Statement of Purpose:

Believing that we have been commanded to love God and one another, and have been commissioned to make disciples of all nations, our purpose is to become a serving church that will…
ENCOUNTER God through corporate worship and prayer;
ENCOURAGE each other through neighborhood fellowships and small groups;
EQUIP believers through teaching, training and preaching;
EMPOWER our God-given talents and spiritual gifts for ministry through the Holy Spirit;
EVANGELIZE our city and world engaging them through intentional words and actions.

Then we will EXPERIENCE Acts 2:47 …the Lord added to their numbers daily those who were being saved, and we will become what God has intended us to be—perfect and complete, lacking nothing. (James 1:4)
